Distribution:

common in a large part of North America, from Florida and Texas (USA) north to most of southern Canada

Wingspan:

In between 6 and 8 centimeter

Season:

one or three flights annually depending on temperature. In many areas most common in June and July

Food plants:

Salix, Populus, Crataegus, Malus

Rearing:

an extremely easy species to rear, suitable for newcomers. Keep at room temperature, dry and clean in well ventilated plastic containers or in netted cages when older.  They are full grown in approximately 4 weeks. Offspring of the last flight overwinters as pupae and should be stored in the fridge.
