Distribution:
Central America, from southern Mexico south to Nicaragua
Wingspan:
In between 10 and 12 cm, slightly larger then the related C. multifenestrata
Season:
in captivity continuously
Food plants:
Rhus typhina, Searsia lancea, Persea, Liquidambar. Less polyphage then multifenestrata. Does not seem to accept Salix.
Rearing:
An easy species, suitable for newcomers if you have the food plants. Keep warm (minimum 25°C day temperature) and clean. Rear in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Avoid condensation and keep completely dry (no wet leaves, no spraying). Fast growing. Ready to pupate within 4 weeks (depending on temperature and quality of the food). Pupal stage is short (approximately 3 to 4 weeks). The cocoons do not overwinter.
