Distribution:
The northern part of South America.
Wingspan:
in between 7 and 12 cm. The females much larger then the males.
Season:
In captivity continuously
Food plants:
Prunus (including serotina and laurocerasus), also Anacardiaceae (Rhus, Malosma, ...) and Liquidambar
Rearing:
Easy, suitable for newcomers. Fast growing and ready to pupate within 4 to 5 weeks. Keep warm in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Watch out for condensation and do not give wet leaves. Like for other Citheronia, hygiene is important. Keep very clean. Do not overcrowd. The pupal stage is fairly short, in between five and six weeks, depending on your local rearing conditions.
