The five Argema species are also known as African moon moths and are closely related to the Actias and Graellsia genera. Four species occur in continental Africa and one (mittrei) on Madagascar. These are fairly large and attractive moths.

Only mimosae and mittrei are regularly available in Europe. Although the rearing of these species is not extremely difficult, some experience is required.
