Distribution:

From Mexico into Guatemala

Wingspan:

similar to A. polyphemus, with a wingspan up to 14 cm 

Season:

more or less continuously when kept warm 

Food plants:

Quercus and Fagus preferred, less well on Juglans

Rearing:

Similar to A. polyphemus. Fairly easy on Quercus and Fagus. Can be reared in well ventilated plastic containers throughout all stages, as long as everything is kept dry and clean. An average living room temperature will do. Will pupate within five to six weeks (probably faster throughout summer months). The pupal stage is fairly short (four to six weeks). Do not attempt to overwinter.
