Distribution:

from Pakistan to Japan, north to Russia and south throughout Indonesia

Wingspan:

around 12 cm

Season:

multiple flights annually 

Food plants:

Crataegus, Salix, Rhododendron, Prunus and many more

Rearing:

An easy species, suitable for newcomers. Keep warm and clean, in well ventilated plastic containers (just watch out for condensation).  Relatively fast growing and ready to pupate within  5 to 6 weeks. The pupal stage in between flights is short (approximately 2 to 3  weeks). The warmer the faster they develop. Cocoons can be overwintered in a cool unheated room

Difficulties:

will emerge in the winter when temperatures rise above 10°C
