Kunugia latipennis

 

 

Distribution:

India south to Sri Lanka and east via China and Nepal, to Vietnam and further south via Thailand to Borneo, Sumatra and Palawan

Wingspan:

males 6 to 7 cm, females 9 to 10

Season:

two flights per year, one late Spring/early Summer, the second in autumn. Caterpillars of the second flight overwinter without going dormant

Food plants:

Pinus, Quercus, Corylus, Eucalyptus, Rubus, Rosa, probably a lot more

Rearing:

Offspring of both flights grow equally slow and are fully grown within 3,5 months. Keep the first instars in well ventilated plastic containers and move to netted cages when larger. Keep warm and dry. Very social caterpillars which can be reared in large groups.
