Distribution:
widespread throughout West and Central Africa with sightings from Ivory Coast and Ghana eastward through Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Uganda to Kenya and south to Angola and Tanzania
Wingspan:
females up to 12 cm, males much smaller (around 8 cm)

Rearing:
A large and easy species. Caterpillars grow to a length of 12 centimeter within a little over 2 months. First instars are best kept in well ventilated plastic containers and moved to netted cages when older or continued in large and spacious plastic tubs covered with a piece of mesh. Keep warm (room temperature) and dry. The pupal stage is approximately 3 weeks.
