Proserpinus is a genus of eight smaller hawk moths. All occur in North America, except one. Proserpinus proserpina is the only member present in a large part of Eurasia and north Africa. Both the caterpillars and the adults are quite attractive and are in general not extremely difficult to rear. The preferred host plants for most species belong to the Onagraceae family.
