The Syntherata genus has its center of gravity on (Papua) New Guinea, with a few species more south into Australia and a few more on some nearby Indonesian Islands. Currently, 39 species are recognized.

The rearing does not seem to be difficult (at least escarlata wasn't), however obtaining livestock most certainly is. These species are rarely or not at all offered in Europe. Very few rearing reports exist.
