Distribution:

Recorded from Congo (RDC), Malawi and Zambia. The animals depicted here originate from the Dzalanyama Forest (Malawi)

Wingspan:

around 10 to 11 cm, one of the larger species in the genus

Season:

Only one flight annually. Pupal stage can take months, emerging of the adults is rather irregular starting somewhere in October, depending on your rearing conditions

Food plants:

Wild host is still unknown. Cistus is very well accepted in captivity

Rearing:

Not particularly difficult even while rearing in the winter. Keep in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Watch out for condensation and do not give wet leaves. Make sure the food is clean and fresh.  Does well at an average living room temperature. The caterpillars grow relatively fast and are ready to pupate within 5 to 6 weeks. The pupal stage takes several months. Emerging of the adults is very irregular, spread over several months
